Tampa, Florida
This Local Agency Program project from the Hillsborough River to Temple Heights Road was coordinated between the City of Temple Terrace and the Florida Department of Transportation. 56th Street is a four-lane divided major arterial roadway connection through Temple Terrace. This 0.569-mile beautification project supported the City’s redevelopment efforts by improving the appearance and pedestrian access along the street and connecting the redevelopment with the surrounding community north of the Hillsborough River. This project involved extensive access management efforts due to driveway relocations and median closures.
In addition to the typical roadway project efforts of a roadway, signing and pavement design project, ELEMENT also provided extensive civil engineering design to coordinate access management, utility relocations, public transit, pedestrian design, landscaping, hardscaping, overhead structures (including a tower to be built in the median), lighting and signalization. New decorative bus stops along the corridor required extensive coordination with HART.
